Haggis Hunter

I grabbed a few bottled ales in Sainsburys at the weekend - I figured I could get some nice photos of the bottles and the beer and give them a quick taste (for research purposes, naturally) posting my findings here.

Haggis PintThe first thing I noticed upon pouring is that the head vanished within seconds. Then my eye was drawn to the striking copper colour - it actually looks very similar to Irn Bru. Perhaps this is the colour you get when you make a drink in Scotland. From girders. But enough of this visual nonsense; let's get onto the taste...

Haggis Hunter is a very hoppy beer, which suits me down to the ground. The blurb on the bottle describes the taste as "citrus and fruity with an underlying biscuit character". Not sure about the citrus bit but I suppose I can pick up some kind of biscuit in there - definitely more of a Rich Tea than a Garibaldi though.

At a tidy 4.4% this is definitely a good session beer and one I think would be a perfect accompaniment to a good curry. You can pick this up in Sainsburys for £1.69 a bottle. Although it may have been £1.75...
